Functions of MXVR

The basic function is to automatically control the continually fluctuating supplied voltage with efficiency of 99.5% or better and feed the optimum voltage to any kind of load.

  1. Principle of Performance
MXVR is equipped with a shunt transformer with 5 thyristers, which automatically selects the optimum tap and transmits power to the series transformer on each phase(Refer to Fig 1). And at the same time, it is designed to prevent surge by switching over at zero cross point.

    [ Fig 1 ]

・Three sets of this are installed for 3 phase / 4 wire system.
・In case the supplied voltage is lower than the preset voltage, the +2% tap will be automatically selected to increase the output as preset.
・In addition, the unit is designed to automatically shift to the direct supply mode just in case of malfunction of installed parts. As such, MXVR never shuts the power off or creates a black out.
  2. Precise Control
The increment by tap is set at 2% unless otherwise requested and thus precise control is made possible. Since MXVR is fully automatic, once desired output voltage is preset, it will be maintained regardless of fluctuation of the input voltage. In other words, the maximum percentage of voltage reduction can be preset without concerning the output.
  3. Balancing of Voltage
Unlike traditional voltage regulators where only one steel core is installed, the neutral wire is employed in MXVR and each phase, being equipped with 2 transformers, is controlled independently. Therefore, if the voltage between phases is not balanced, which is often the case, the output voltage will be automatically balanced because it can be preset phase by phase, which leads to greater saving effectiveness(Refer to Fig 2).
